Hello, I’m Gordon Johnson, in July of 2025 I will be retiring from the Airlines. I will than be staying at home and working with my wife, as We opened Northern Edge Blade Care in May of 2024. More about me, I Love God, my family, all puppy dogs and the Great outdoors.
Hi! I’m Joan, Gordon’s other half. I have worked in the medical world since I was 18. We have raised 4 wonderful children and hosted 2 foreign exchange students. We have been grandparents for the last 15 years.
I too, Love being outdoors, minus the biting flies, tics and snakes. I have been around animals all my life but am partial to dogs. Out of all my Loves, Jesus is the greatest.
We got married 34 years ago on Valentine’s day. We spend as much time together as possible. We are thrilled for this next phase of life, to be working next to each other, Sharpening equipment for you, to make you job go smoother. We started our training in Ankeny, Iowa in the early part of 2024.
Our services
On Demand Service
If you live in the surrounding area of Bemidji, we offer on demand service. Call, Text or email us and we can make arrangements to pick up your equipment. Once back to the shop, we will disassemble your tools, disinfect, sharpen, rewash, demagnetize the metal, put everything back together, test the equipment to make sure your shears and clippers are working at there peak. We will make the adjustments needed if they need tweaking. We will notify you that they are ready for delivery. We finally package them up so they can be deliver back to you as efficiently as possible.
Drop off
Maybe, you want to see where your equipment is being serviced at. Again, call, text or email us we can possible have wait while we restore your equipment or you just drop off your stuff as you head into town and than stop back after your done in town. Or after we are done sharpening your tools.
Shipment
If you live too far from us or mailing is just easier for you than please feel free to ship your tools to us. Please securely package your clippers and or Shears (scissors) in a box and very import : make sure you enclose your name, email, phone and address in the box.

A few thing could cause this. It could be a worn or loose blade socket, the tension on the blades, or the drive on the clipper itself. Do to the many different clippers out on the market the blade may sound fine on one machine verses another. Adjustments can be made and if the adjustment are is still not helping we can replace some of the parts to get your equipment running quitter.

We try to get your equipment back to you as soon as we can. That being said, at times we can do same day service and other might take a week or longer. It really depends on the volume you bring us and what we already have in the shop.

Yes, It REALLY does! Especially on the longer shears used for grooming. The softer metal will dull quicker and need to be sharpened more often. The edge will not hold as well. also, the flex or torque in the closing or in the style you hold (use) your shear has a lot to play in a softer metal or less expensive pair of shears. and if they get bumped or dropped the softer metal may not be resolvable.
